To help maintain traffic flow during these closures, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will implement a detour route. Motorists should take the following detour:
- Westbound I-290 to Westbound I-88
- Then to Westbound Roosevelt Road
- Finally, Northbound Illinois Route 83 (Kingery Highway) to access Westbound I-290
This detour has been successfully used in previous operations during the construction of the Northbound I-294 bridge over WB I-290.
**Closure Schedule:**
- Overnight Sunday through Thursday: All lanes of Westbound I-290 between Wolf Road and I-294 will be closed from 12:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m.
- Overnight Saturday: All lanes of Westbound I-290 between Wolf Road and I-294 will be closed from 12:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m.
- No full closures will occur on Friday nights.
In the event of an emergency, a static closure controlled by the Illinois State Police will be set up on WB I-290 to activate the detour.
