About the Inventory

Why Westchester Built This Inventory

Under the EPA's Lead and Copper Rule Revisions, every public water system in the country is required to identify the material composition of service lines connecting water mains to homes and buildings.

The Village of Westchester has completed this inventory and made the results publicly accessible. Our goal: give every resident a straightforward way to see what's connecting their home to the water main β€” and to support replacement where it's needed.

What You'll See

Service Line Categories

Each service line in the inventory has been classified into one of four categories. The map shows the status for both the utility-owned and customer-owned portions of each line.

Lead
Confirmed lead material β€” prioritized for replacement.
Galvanized β€” Replace
Galvanized line previously connected to lead; flagged for replacement.
Non-Lead
Confirmed copper, plastic, or other safe material.
Unknown
Material not yet verified β€” being investigated and prioritized.
What This Means for Residents

Our Replacement Commitment

Properties identified as having lead or unknown service lines are being prioritized in the Village's replacement program. We're developing a long-term plan that complies with state and federal mandates while keeping residents informed at every step.

If your service line is flagged for replacement, the Village will contact you directly with details and next steps.
